The Nashville Tribute Band

"The Work" Official CD Release is this Thursday (August 4th) in Sandy, Utah at the Sandy Ampitheater. Aaaah!!! I want to go! I don't know if I'll get to, but I would absolutely LOVE to go. Guess we'll just see. But anyways, I first heard the Nashville Tribute Band when they performed "Joseph- A Nashville Tribute to the Prophet" here in little old Richfield many years ago. I absolutely loved the music, loved the lyrics, and I've grown to love one of the lead singers-- Tim Gates.

Tim Gates is originally from Richfield and was my aunt Keri Anne Gardner's "crush" or "boyfriend" when she passed away in the seventh grade.

Tim is the lead singer in the band "Due West" and they performed here last year for the county fair. He saw me down below the stage as they were performing a song, he pointed right at me with a huge smile, and it seemed like we just clicked. I can't describe the feeling I felt right at that moment.

After the show my family stood in line to get our pictures with him and his band. He saw me and said "I KNEW IT!!" as he gave me a huge hug. He said, "When I saw you, I thought I was seeing Keri," he said, "I got tears in my eyes as I was on stage singing. I couldn't believe it." I was touched! He thinks I look just like her! ha ha.. it's so interesting. But I knew something had happened at that moment that we made eye contact. I'm sure Keri was there that night :) It was such a cool experience.

So besides my connection with him, he is a great country singer and his lyrics are incredible. Due West is a great band as well as the Nashville Tribute Band. The spirit is SO strong when I hear the songs they sing about the prophet Joseph Smith. I can't imagine what this new album will be like-- a tribute to the missionaries!

Let's Paint a Tree

Like I said in one of my previous posts, one of my art projects this summer would be to paint a tree for my mom! It turned out to be about a two day project...

Drawing the tree and leaves with chalk was the most time consuming.

Then I began to paint!

 This was my workspace: Stool, paint, paint brushes, paper towels, and my laptop.

Almost done. . . 

Finished product!

Now it's my mom's turn to get the pictures together and framed and to place them on the wall.

I'll upload pics when she is done with that you so can all see the final finished project! (It may be a while though.)

Here is something to think about:

A shooting star can change your life. It sure changed mine. And now every shooting star that I will see will remind me of the night that changed my life for the better. Whether it happened for a reason, I do not know.. Only time will tell. All I can tell you is that I learned from it. Like the song "Tale as old as time" from Beauty and the Beast, I 'found that I could change' and 'learned that I was wrong.'

Let's Be Crafty!

I enjoy being creative. If you know anything about me, you know that I love art and I love to create. Whether you give me chalk and pavement, watercolor and a brush, or paper and a pencil, I just simply love to create anything with whatever I have in front of me.

Every summer I like to do some sort of art project! For example, two summers ago I spent my time painting fun little swirly/flowery designs on my bedroom walls. Last summer I worked on a water color painting of my hero and Savior, Jesus Christ!

As for this summer, I have a few projects ahead of me. I will be painting a tree on the wall down stairs so my mom can have a "family tree" with pictures of our family and grandparents! It's going to be sooo cool. I can't wait to finish so I can post pictures. This is what it will hopefully turn out to be like! I'm excited!

As of my other project for the summer, I found this cute pixel idea on my new favorite website http://pinterest.com/ and fell in love.

I grabbed 36 random paint samples at Walmart. I cut them down to a specific size to create a perfect square. After I laid them all out, I measured the height and width. I then ran to the convenient little store of Pressed Petals and got foam core cut to that exact size (Thanks to Emmie and her sweet father). I then positioned the colors to my own taste and then I sat down and glued them down side by side with a little glue stick. 

 After they were glued down, I mod podged each square individually. The first coat I painted horizontally. After about twenty minutes, and after the mod podge was dry, I did a second coat vertically. The mod podge eventually dried and left an awesome criss-cross design!

 Mod podge can be really hard to work with sometimes, so I only had a problem with ONE of the squares. I guess I kinda lucked out, but it would have been awesome if all the squares could have been flat! But it's okay I guess. Now I'll secure a wire on the back and I'll be displaying this sweet work of art in my future apartment down at college.

How easy was that?!
Not to mention super inexpensive :)

The dent, the reunion, & the end of HP forever.

  This, my friends, is me doing a back flip.

You can see the dent in my leg from July 11, 2008. It has been three years since the accident now and yet I still have my same old dent. Crazy? Yes. But it's just part of me forever I guesssss.

Anyways..

I spent the weekend with some of my favorite people up at my favorite place in the entire world...

Fishlake!

It was the "Hansen Family Reunion" meaning my mom's side of family (Micki & Doug's kids)

The entire weekend was a blast. We ate good food, enjoyed each other's company, and did little activities along the way.

Friday evening was the first night. We had a BBQ and fire afterwards. We sat under the stars, enjoyed some exotic s'mores (meaning we used our own choice of candybar instead of plain old chocolate... yum!), soaked up the fire's smoke, and the whole while I played a little bit of guitar and harmonica. It was cool.

Saturday morning we woke up, did Zumba with Summer as our instructor, and then ate a delicious breakfast. Later that day the entire family went Geocaching by the lake.. we found some cute little geocaches and it was actually really neat! It's fun to follow the GPS to a coordinate that has a treasure hidden for you to find.

A little later we enjoyed some "down time" and created a back massage train. It was great.

we ended the evening with some fun "Minute-to-Win-it" games!

Even the little kids were invested in the concentration. It was quite funny.

We all attended church on sunday and then finished the reunion with a yummy lunch and then deep fried candybars. Yup... that's right. hah they were pretty dang good.

So the weekend was a blast, my family is sooo cute and so much fun. However, there are a billion little kids and sometimes they got a wee bit annoying once in a while, but hey... you just gotta embrace it while they're young I guess because before we all know it they'll all be old like me.

Ew.

Anyways! I'm home now and extremely tired. Kambry is off to EFY for the week. She's attending the UVU session so it will be interesting to see how that goes. She's great though, and she'll enjoy every minute of it I'm sure. I love that girl and I'm going to miss her so much when I move back down to college.

Speaking of college, I went down to Cedar for the day with Tiana on Thursday! It was a fun day!

Long, kinda stressful, busy and crazy, but fun :) We applied at many places for a job but honestly are we going to get lucky? Probably not. We met Kylee at Krave and enjoyed some delicious frozen yogurt (my favorite). We also checked out our new apartment and actually got to meet our future roomates! That was interesting, but they seem cute and super nice so I'm excited! Plus I'm excited to be living in this apartment complex. Andddd the managers seem way chill and cool. So that is good:) We ate dinner at the Pasta Factory and visited with our friend Garrett for a bit. Then we headed home.

We made it back to Richfield by 9:30pm and then we went to the Harry Potter movie at midnight!

It was soooooo good! I absolutely loved it :)) Sad that I never get to look forward to another premier of Harry Potter again, but man! The past ten years have been great. I feel like I grew up with Harry. Ha ha... I remember when the very first movie came out. I went with my cousins because it was around Thanksgiving time. We made it a mini-annual-tradition there after for a while as the next movies tended to come out around Thanksgiving.

Then things just changed.

 But that's just how life is.

Change.

However, that's how we learn and grow and even LEARN to GROW.

Interesting to think about huh?

Now I must be off to bed. My eyes are tired. Until then.

I love to Picnik!

I spent the day with Kambry, Emmie, Lissy, & Kinsley yesterday. We made watermelon flavored cookies (yummy!), had a fun lil photoshoot with chalk drawings up at the flood lake ramp, made french toast for dinner, played some Just Dance on the Wii, and then finished the night with a few rounds of Wackee Six and then eventually ended with a big 300+ card fight! It was a fun day :) Here are some pics.

See You in Two!

Farewell to one of my best  friends, Cody Eugene 'Smolder' Patterson! He reports to the MTC today. He will be learning spanish and will be serving the people in Argentina! He is going to do sooooo great, I just know it! He has such a bright spirit, an absolutely beautiful testimony, and is such an awesome friend. The people of Argentina are going to love him!

He has been such a blessing in my life and I am so glad I have had the opportunity to get to know this kid. He will surely be missed... But I can't wait to write him! It will be fun to hear about the many adventures the Lord has in store for him! I'm so excited for him!
