SUU round TWO

Hello again Southern Utah University! You've been good to me so far, let's see what you have in store for me this year.
So far, "Welcome Back Week" has been a blast! There has been a different activity and social event every single night and it has been one big party. It's been fantastic! I've been meeting and making new friends, and I've enjoyed seeing old ones. Life is so good! I can't say that enough. It really is! And I am so happy.
Here are a few pics of some random things.. I'm in no mood to blog. (I haven't been lately, I need to change that... it will come with time though. No worries! I'm just still trying to get in the swing of things.)
So here is my side of the room. This is my space, my home. This is where I sleep and ponder up at my pictures of loved ones- both friends and family- and I am reminded of all the wonderful people I am blessed to have in my life.
This is mine and Tiana's "first day of school" picture that I sent to my mom. :) I was just telling my mom how much I love this girl. I am so glad we're friends. She's the greatest friend I could ever ask for and I love everything about her. I honestly don't know what I'd do without her.
We got invited over to some guys' house for "taco night" and we told them we'd bring the dessert soooo we made homemade oreo cookies! I saw some Hershey's cookies'n cream drops while we were checking out and got the idea to put them inside the cookie (like a rolo cookie, but instead of rolos, use these cookies'n cream drops) and so we did half oreos, half c&c surprise and they turned out AWESOME! They were so good. The little cream discs are the cookies'n cream drops. YUM.
I went on a random trip to Beaver last Sunday with my buddies that I had just recently met.
This is me and Jared Potter. He's a good friend, I love this kid!
We went skating at "Old Skool Skate" and it was great fun! Me, Hailey, Tiana, and Kenzie. Skating is sooo hard though, I don't know if I like it or not. I prefer rollerblades :)
Last night there was an 80s dance in the "cave" with DJ Marcus Wing and it was crazyyyy fun! We dressed up the best that we could and we danced the night away!
Notice our bright makeup (thanks to tiana) and check out our fantastic hair!
We SO should have lived in the 80s.
Our beautiful friend Hailey J. Kemp came down for the weekend too so she came with us to the dance! Love that girl!
This is us after the dance.
HOLY COW we were drenched in sweat.. it was nasty. Our friend that we danced with for a while actually made a funny status on facebook that said, "This goes out to all my sweata's out there! At a dance that good, I don't care who you are! WE PERSPIRE TOGETHER!"- Audrey Stephenson. hahaha!

So yep life is great! And I love everyone. Especially my family. They're wonderful and my mom sends me with goodies every single week. I wouldn't be alive without her. haha jk, but really she's wonderful. I'll be going home this next weekend for Labor Day-- it should be a fantastic weekend! Can't wait!!!

Kate

What if...

"...and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day."

Life is beautiful.

The End of a Lovely Chapter.

"Without change, there would be no butterflies."

It's so true isn't it? I've been needing to blog the past couplethree days but I've just been sooo busy! I decided to go down to Lake Powell with a bunch of friends on Monday. I came home late Tuesday night and left Wednesday morning for Cedar. So yes, that is where I am currently stationed right now. Good'ol Cedar City Utah. I had to move down early because I'm an Associate on SUUSA's Association Board and I had to attend a retreat that has been going on today and yesterday. It has been fun, I get to work with the cutest girl named Jessica Beck and I am sooo excited to have this opportunity. We're going to have tons of fun together and I'm going to learn so much from her, I just know it! I get to work with the Club Directors so it will be interesting to see how things go but it should be tons of fun. We get to plan activitites, help and organize clubs, and meet hundreds of people! I'm really excited for the future.

As of right now, I have no roommate. But she is coming, I just don't know when. Tiana is moving down today and then she's headed to St. George for the weekend because her sister is getting married. My other two roommates-- Shawna and Kylei (yes that's how you spell it) are leaving this weekend. So I wonder what I'm going to do this weekend!

I've had a great time down here already though, and I am really excited to be working with SUUSA. It's going to be awesome. I love being involved and I love serving people!

I got to see one of my best friends Alyssa Simon last night and it fantastic to see her! I love that girl so much. She and one of her residents (because she's an Resident's Assistant at one of the dorms) came along with me to Walmart last night and then we chilled back at my place for a bit. It was fun:) I am just so exhausted though... ha tired and tired. Oh, and I'm tired.. did I mention that?

Ha ohhhh but let me just tell you how fun Lake Powell was. It was beautiful and wonderful and warm and sunny and lovely and perfect! We ate lots of good food, we swam quite a bit, boated, wake boarded, tubed, cliff jumped, and just hung out! It was great, I'm glad I went! It was a nice way to end the summer:)

Well I had better go now, I'm not really in the mood to blog :\ Maybe I'll try taking a nap or something.

But honestly, although change can be hard, it's such a fabulous thing.

Love,
Kate

"Summer's All in Bloom..."

"...The summer is ending soon."
I can't believe how fast these last few days are flying by! I am SO sad, but also soooo happy because I have enjoyed every second of these last few days.
Here is what has been up:
This past week was the Sevier County Fair! I decided to enter my watercolor painting of Christ. Then I came up with an idea to make "Fruity Pebble Truffles" and figured that if they were yummy enough, then I would enter them into the fair! Well Thursday night a friend of mine came over and we created the truffles! They turned out to be very sweet--- if you love fruity pebbles, you would love these fun lil treats!
Well I decided to enter them into the cereal contest the next day. Ha I didn't win, but I had tons of fun making these cute treats with my friend!
Night games with a bunch of friends followed that night after we made the treats and it was great fun! It was like the olden days... ghost in the graveyard, links, steal the flag, murderer in the dark, and telephone!
Friday night we attempted to fill water balloons with glow in the dark paint. We decided to try to play water balloon volleyball in the dark! It kinda worked. We used the headlights of a car to charge some of the balloons so they'd be lit, but our patience was short and our volleyball game quickly turned into a fun-filled waterfight.
Tonight I enjoyed me some Beatles at BEATLE MANIA!!! ha ha at the County Fair! I went with a bunch of my friends and listened to the band "Imagine" which is a tribute band to the Beatles. It was very funny and just simply great. Mainly because I love the Beatles.
The night would not have been complete without a picture with all of them!
Left to right: Emmie, Cydney, Dustee, Lissy, Hailey, Sunni, Me (in the hat), and Kambry (in the green).
Nowww.. my plans for next week have changed. Instead of moving down on Tuesday so I could be in Cedar for the Student Associate Board Retreat, I've been invited to Lake Powell!! I'm thinking I will probably go, which will really change my plans of packing and all... but everyone says that Lake Powell is worth it. Guess we'll just see how this next week turns out. It's definitely going to be CRAZY...
But hey, it's a crazy beautiful life though right?

Live the Life you Love

This what I am feeling today. . .
"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are."
-Marianne Williamson

Beautiful isn't it?

"Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of all of the details of my life; the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be okay; & the determined choice to praise God in ALL things."

I LIVE FOR JOY.

Kate

Kambry's Room Makeover

Another summer project before I move back to Cedar-- Painting Kambry's room!
She was ready for change.
Her walls said "Some people, like flowers, give pleasrue by just being."
That quote could not have been more perfect to describe my sweet beautiful sister Kambry. She honestly is like a flower! If any of you know her, just simply being in her presence makes you happy. She is the sweetest spirit and is such a great friend. I'm going to miss her so much when I move down to college again. :(
BEFORE:
Sooo she decided she wanted gray walls, a yellow bed spread, and wanted accents of turquoise and coral (like in her pillows and what not).
Well my whole family pitched in on the painting job and we got her room done wayyy quick!
Then I spent a few hours sketching some dandelions on her walls and then I painted them. :)
I really really really enjoy painting! She loves her room and she's happy so I'm happy.
Now our next project will be to make some pillows for her plain, but fun & bright, yellow bed!

Quick and I mean QUICK update:
I move next week... on Tuesday the 16th.
Sad.
But honestly this summer has absolutely been fantastic and I've loved every minute of it.

Love,
Kate
